Psalms 139:1-24
v
The sanctity of life versus the dignity of man.&
Genesis 9:66 Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God he made man. (NKJ)
v
Abortion violates the Law of God.&
Exodus 20:1313 You shall not murder. (NKJ)
To Kill: To put to death
Murder: To put to death unlawfully
&
Exodus 21:22-2522 If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman's husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
23 But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life,
24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25 burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. (NKJ)
v
Abortion violates the marvelous works of God.&
Psalms 139:13-1613 For You formed my inward parts; you covered me in my mother's womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. (NKJ)
We have lost sight of the awesomeness of God’s creation.
v
Difficult cases
Difficult cases make bad laws. If we understand the principles involved in the Biblical understanding of abortion, answers to the difficult cases are very clear. If we don’t strive to know the principles of God, we are left with situational ethics. Although traumatic, the fact that rape and incest occurs does not provide license to murder the child.
v
Abortion brings down the wrath of God.&
Psalms 106:36-3936 They served their idols, which became a snare to them.
37 They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons,
38 And shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus they were defiled by their own works, and played the harlot by their own deeds. (NKJ)
&
Numbers 35:31-3431 Moreover you shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he shall surely be put to death.
32 And you shall take no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may return to dwell in the land before the death of the priest.
33 So you shall not pollute the land where you are; for blood defiles the land, and no atonement can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it.
34 Therefore do not defile the land which you inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel. (NKJ)
The problems of abortion have impact upon more than just those who participate in abortions - the entire land is defiled. Even if Roe Vs. Wade were to be overturned today, our land would remain defiled. This verse says that the only way the stain can be removed would be to shed the blood of the abortionists, mothers, fathers and legislators. Thankfully, God has provided a much better solution.
v
Our only hope.1) Wait for God to judge the world.
2) Preach the Gospel.
